Old door, Calatañazor

$225.00

Calatañazor is a small, picturesque medieval village located in the province of Soria, in the region of Castilla y León, Spain. It has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site due to its architectural and historical importance.

The village is characterized by its medieval architecture, including well-preserved stone buildings, narrow streets, and an ancient castle.

I have been so many times to Calatañazor with my parents, usually on our way to the nearby “puente de los siete ojos". I've stood many times right in front of this very door, admiring its character and newly found details.

This painting takes you to one of those occasions, a journey to the soul of Calatañazor, immortalized in the weathered grains of this ancient wooden door. The paper breathes with the warm ochres and rustic browns that tell the tale of centuries gone by, capturing the essence of this Spanish enclave.

My brush traces the lines and contours of the door, unveiling the intricate details that have weathered the passage of time. The wood, worn by the hands of history, reveals stories etched in its texture — a narrative of resilience and endurance. Each stroke of pigment carries with it the whispers of Calatañazor's past, inviting you to delve into the layers of its rich heritage.

Iron wrought details emerge as subtle embellishments, each stroke of the brush meticulously rendering the fine craftsmanship, paying homage to the skilled hands that shaped this door and the village it guards.
